The design tries to respond to the relief of the surrounding terrain. The house reacts to the existing slope of the land by a slight embedding into the ground while the southern facade of the volume fully opens into the landscape. The method of embedding the house reduces any unnecessary construction costs and energy consumption. Insertion of the atrium into the living space complements the interior social zone with a closer connection with the exterior and at the same time divides kitchen zone from the livingroom. The atrium terrace is situated in the southern part of the house, but it's embedded in the mass of the house and additional shading by vegetation create a usable exterior space, fully connected with the interior.
